New York Rocker - fanzinefaves

NEW YORK ROCKER
New York, NY
1976 - 1984

Early and far-reaching punk proselytization brought to you by Alan Betrock for the first two years and by Andy Schwartz for the lion's share of the mag's tenure. A total of 58 issues were published including the Pix issue. Beginning in 1980, the mag shifted to a shorter newsprint format. Issue 55 marked the end of the original New York Rocker though Iman Lababedi briefly revived the name with two magazine-size issues in 1984. For further background, Jesse Jarnow's "New York Rocker and the Invention of Indie Rock" over at Perfect Sound Forever is well worth a read.
